Tuesday, June 14th and it’s a BLACK Day

Underclass exams begin THIS WEEK …. Make sure that you finish the 4th marking period in fine fashion.

The specially scheduled exams for English, Math, and Science will take place tomorrow and Thursday.   The exam times are 7:40-9:40 and 10:00-12noon. A reminder that students only attend on the days when they have an exam. Wednesday exams are English in the first session and Math in the second session. On Thursday, Science is the first session.

There will be an extended time bus that leaves 30-minutes after each exam.

Students who only have an exam in the second session and not the first session should be at their bus stops by 9:00am on Wednesday.

Reminder there is no longer a late bus after school.

As you know, the month of June marks the recognition of pride month. There is a storied history of LGBTQ activism in the United States that dates back decades before the Stonewall riots. In 1924, Henry Gerber, a German immigrant, founded the Society for Human Rights in Chicago; it was the first group to campaign for gay rights in the United States. In 1955, a group of women including Del Martin and Phyllis Lyons founded the Daughters of Bilitis in San Francisco, which emerged as the first lesbian rights group in the United States. In the 1960s, the Mattachine Society, the most prominent "homophile" organization in the U.S., held “annual reminders” at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall every Fourth of July, where they advocated for lesbian and gay equality.
